A new Earth Market in Alba

On March 21, the eighth Italian Earth Market started in Alba. As for the trial run on March 20, the inauguration was greeted with rain, but this did not discourage the numerous visitors who crowded round the stalls of about 30 producers.
In keeping with Earth Market traditions, an impressive range of products was on offer,  in particular raw milk cheese, wine, traditional preserves, naturally raised baked products, honey and hive products, fresh fruit and vegetables, cured meats and even ostrich meat.
All the producers come from the surrounding areas of Alta Langa, Roero and Dogliani Langhe. Many of them are young and they all display a great awareness of the importance of sustainable food products, in common with all producers at markets promoting good, clean and fair produce.
Another distinctive quality of producers at Earth Markets is their ability to make the event an opportunity to provide information as well as sales: many manage educational initiatives at their farms and find the market another excellent opportunity to communicate the value of their produce.
The market will be held weekly on Saturdays in Piazza Pertinace from 9 am to 2 pm. Special sessions will be held with a Slow Food Alba convivium information stand and tastings of market produce for the Vinum Alba festival on April 17 and 24 and May 1.
